Phil Hossler has authored 3 textbooks for high school athletic trainers, 
parents and athletes. The second book, "The High School Athletic Training 
Program- an organizational guide" , is in use by high school athletic 
trainers around the country. The most recent one is specifically for the 
high school athlete and those in the "neighborhood" that would care for a 
concussed student-athlete. As an adjunct to this text, Phil authored an 
article detailing how a school district could implement classroom 
accommadations for a student-athlete with a concussion.  He also wrote  the 
First Aid and Sports Safety Policies chapter in the last four editions of the 
AAHPERD's text  "Principles of Safety in Physical Education and Sport".  Phil 
has had 30 articles published in various professional, coaching and teaching 
magazines.

Phil Hossler has written for, been featured in or been interviwed for over 
85 magazine, newspaper, radio and television outlets on topics related to 
high school athletic health care, including USA Today, New York Times,New 
Jersey WPIX channel 9, WNJN channel 12 and WOR 9; New York JACK  101.1 FM 
radio,Athletic Management, Training & Conditioning magazines, Journal of 
Athletic Training, NATA NEWS and Gatorade Sports Science Exchange. In 
addition, he has traveled on four occassions with USA Olympic level teams to 
Europe and South America. 

Phil is a member of four Halls of Fame including the New Jersey Athletic 
Trainers' Society, New Jersey Interscholastic Coaches' Association, New 
Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association and the National Athletic 
Trainers' Association.He has received numerous awards from organizations such 
as the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Athletic Trainers' Society of 
New Jersey, New Jersey Brain Injury Association, American Heart Association, 
Medtronic, Training & Conditioning and Athletic Management magazines. 

He co-authored the 1984 New Jersey state law for athletic trainers and was 
responsible for the landmark 1999 New Jersey endorsement from the New Jersey 
State Department of Education recognizing high school athletic trainers as 
educators. 

Phil has had over 75 student trainer assistants since coming to East 
Brunswick in 1984. Six of his former students are now certified athletic 
trainers, while others are registered nurses, physical therapists, EMTs and 
physicians.
