Bits and Bytes-March 2008
Hi everyone! Sorry you didn’t see my column in the last newsletter. I would like to say, “I’m
back!” Congratulations are in order for all the students who took the time to research some
environmental news and do a report in class: Katie P. 4N, Terrence H. 4N, Manuel V. 4S and Elsi
R. 4N (Elsi has participated twice). I would also like to congratulate Emma M. 3R and Rachel D.
4K who wrote definitions for all the computer words. There will be more chances for prizes next
month. Keep the articles coming and define this month’s words.
March will be a very busy month in our computer lab. Fourth grade classes will be taught how to
use PowerPoint and create their own slide show presentations. Wow-this will be fantastic. The
third grade will be doing some really cool internet scavenger hunts. The second grade will be
finishing up their stories they have been working very hard on and then starting work on the
internet. The first grade classes will be practicing an introductory program on keyboarding
(yes, you heard it, keyboarding). Our kindergarten classes will be finding those very sneaky
letters and numbers on the keyboard and then showing us how to use special programs to practice
their math skills (maybe they’ll show us all a thing or two).
Till the next time, let’s hope Phil, the groundhog, is wrong and we will see spring soon!
Here are the newest computer words-good luck!
