PARENTING JOURNAL AASSIGNMENTS (10 ENTRIES DUE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12)
10/27-Say you've met the most amazing person you are dying to date. This
person has a quality your family would flip our about, even though you don't
think it is any big deal. Maybe it is the person's race, occupation,
religion or interests. What about a potential boy/girlfriend would drive
your parents insane?

10/28-Based on what you have learned in your life so far, what two lessons do
you think will be the most important to teach your children? Are these two
lessons also ones your parents have taught you, or do they come entirely from
your own life and experiences?
10/29-There are many firsts in our lives that we don't remember, such as our
first tooth, first step, first word or first birthday. Firsts from later in
childhood come easily to mind; a first pet, a first award, the first day of
high school, a first summer camp Write about a special first that you
remember clearly.
11/3-Parents and children often claim to be misunderstood by each other.

understand about your generation. Give an example of something that you
believe they would say your generation doesn't understand about them.
11/4-Do you think women or men have an easier time of things?Explain your
thoughts.
11/5-Literature and films are full of characters who fall in love at first
sight. Do you believe this kind of love is possible? Do you believe two
people can look at each other and fall in love instantly, and know they are
meant to be together? Has this ever happened to you or someone you know?
11/6-Goals that are written down seem more important and carry more weight
than goals that just in your head. The goals that are not written down seem
more like a wish than a goal. Explain whether or not you agree with the
statement on goals . Write out your "goals" the weekend you have the "baby".
11/9-When you are young it seems like your parents have some kind of official
book called, "How to Be an Adult" that tells them everything they need to
know. At some point, you realize that they are winging it like everyone
else; they don't really have all the answers. Do you remember a specific
instance where your parents seemed confused, scared or irrational? How did
you feel at that moment?
11/10-In some cultures, marriages are arranged. The parents, sometimes with
the help of a matchmaker, choose mates for their children. If your parents
had to choose a mate for you, what kind of characteristics and qualities do
you think they would look for? How would your parents choices differ from
your own?
11/12-Would you consider the offense, child abuse, illegal drug use or both
if a woman is using marijuana, cocaine or heroin while pregnant? Would you
consider alcohol use drug abuse?
