Although I have been teaching in the Marlboro School District for 16 years,
the 2009-2010 school year will be my eighth year teaching fulltime
mathematics to 6th graders. Prior to that I was a substitute teacher working
in all five buildings in the district. In 1997-98 I taught 6th grade science
as a leave replacement and in 2000-01 I taught 7th grade math. My first
permanent position was in 2001-as an 4th grade academic intervention teacher
for math.
Married with two grown sons and a new grandson, I also enjoy the convenience
of living in Marlboro.
Education:
* Bachelor of Arts Degree - English with Elementary Education -
Mount Saint Mary College 1991
* Master of Science in Education - Special Education -

Mathematics is a creation of the human mind and, as such, is an
endeavor that needs to be constantly updated. Learning is continuous and
unfortunately as mathematicians accomplish more, information and skills
advance to the point that teaching everything to students becomes
impossible. Our national standards for math education urge teachers to deal
with content that is relevant and that can be used in daily living.
My mission is to foster students' curiosity and questions about the
world around them while offering real-world learning opportunities.
I believe they need to see the relationship between their study and their
daily lives and how it will benefit them in the future.
