CREATING TESSELLATIONS ON THE COMPUTER WITH MRS. PERLMAN
1. Go to the “Paint” program.
2. Click on the 7th icon on the left (a square). Drag out a 2” square.
3. Using the eraser (2nd icon on the left), erase everything except the
corners.
4. Click on the pencil icon (4th icon on the left) and draw an interesting
line from the top left corner to the bottom left corner of the square. Make
sure the line stays inside the square.
5. Using the top right cut icon, drag out a box around the left side of the
square.
6. Right mouse click “copy,” right mouse click “paste.” Drag the new line to
the right side of the square.
7. Using the pencil, create an interesting line on the top of the square.
Copy and paste it to the bottom of the square.
8. Erase any extra lines.
9. The most important part. Using the pencil draw into the new shape. Make
something other students will recognize.
10. Copy and paste the new shape several times until it doesn’t fit anymore.
11. Using the “A” icon, drag out a word box and type your name.
12. Go to file, save as, give your tessellation a name, and save under the
file with your name on it.
13. Using the paint can icon, color in your tessellation.
14. When you are completely finished, save your tessellation in Mrs.
Perlman’s folder, under your period, in the “COMPLETED” folder.
