Vocabulary: Chapter 1 Vocabulary test is this Friday. 

Reading: We have started reading the novel, Nothing But the Truth, by Avi. This book is excellent for teaching critical thinking skills such as identifying conflict, recognizing bias, connotation/denotation, and understanding point of view. We will use these skills to analyze "real world" print, such as news articles, editorials, and advertisements. We've already discussed the "cheerleading uniform incident" in one of our area districts, as our book also details a conflict between the community and school board.
