| Another year is off to a great start here at nursery school. The Wissahickon
Fire Company visited our school in October during Fire Safety Week. The
Dino, Busy Bee, and Turtle classes learned about fire safety and had a chance
to get on the fire truck. They were so excited! The children in the 3 & 5
day classes also heard Halloween stories told by Bill Wood, a professional
storyteller, who visited our school just before Halloween. Halloween
parties were celebrated at the end of the month in all the classes, where the
children entertained their parents by parading in their costumes and singing
some songs.
Mr. Pete (Peter Moses) visits our school every month to bring his music
program to our
3 to 5 year olds. He is here twice a month for our 4 and 5 year olds and
once a month for our 3 year olds. Mr. Pete makes his music a fun time for all
the children. They always enjoy his visits!
School pictures will be taken this month in all classes. All parents will
have the opportunity to purchase individual and class pictures of their
children. The pictures will be back before the holidays, just in time for
gift giving.
November brings the celebration of Thanksgiving. Each class will share a
real Thanksgiving Feast with turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings. They
will learn about the first Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims and Indians. The
children also learn about good nutrition this month. The Turtle class will
do some cooking, making “stone soup” and soft pretzels. Thanksgiving is a
time to be thankful, and the children learn about being thankful for all the
blessings we have in life.
