The 2009-2010 school year will be Mrs. Kratz's fourteenth year teaching in the Pennridge School
District. She has been a teacher at John M. Grasse, West Rockhill, and of course Guth. Over these
years she has taught kindergarten, third grade, fifth, and presently fourth.

Mrs. Kratz attended John M. Grasse, South Junior High, and Pennridge High School as a student.
She graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and from
Penn State University with a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is also a
2006 Fellow of the Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project's (PAWLP) Writing Institute and a 2007
Fellow of the Reading and Literature Institute.

Mrs. Kratz loves to learn new things, and that's probably why she enjoys traveling. While in
college, she studied watercolor painting and art history in Italy. During the summer of 2000, she
spent two weeks living in and studying the tropical rain forests of Ecuador in South America. She
also studied for several weeks at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland during a NASA Educational
Workshop for teachers in 2001. Mrs. Kratz would love to visit Europe again someday soon especially
to visit England and France. (Mrs. Kratz's husband is a French teacher.)

This summer, Mrs. Kratz made presentations for teachers at a district writing workhop and a
graduate reading course as well as co-taught a PAWLP graduate course at the Michener Art Museum
in Doylestown called "Visualizing Words and Worlds." In addition, Mr. and Mrs. Kratz also hosted a
16-year-old French student for three weeks this July. Mrs. Kratz had the opportunity to visit
Washington, D.C. and New York City with the exchange program group. Mr. and Mrs. Kratz spent
time in Washington, D.C. together as well.

Mrs. Kratz also enjoys her dog, ChloƩ, who is a red miniature dachshund. In her spare
time she likes to write and read, scrapbook, garden, take care of her outdoor goldfish pond, work on
projects around the house, go to Phillies games, and help Mr. Kratz with his model train layouts and
his hobby of collecting Roy Orbison memorabilia.
