Homework

Homework is NOT required per say, in the Reading Support classroom.
Think of it more as a reading incentive!

First Grade: Students should be bringing their Reading
Folders back and forth to school each day, so that they can record the
days on the monthly calendar, that they are reading at home. Parents
need to sign their initials and write the number of minutes that the
student spends reading...at least ten "days" recorded earns a prize- and
more than ten times will earn a BONUS!

Second Grade: Students need to bring their Reading Folders back and
forth each day as well, and by the end of the month they should have at
least FIVE book titles (and authors) recorded on the monthly sheet. Of
course, MORE than five books will also earn a BONUS!

BOTH FIRST AND SECOND GRADE:
READ WITH ME book bags (containing a book, tape cassette and
question sheet) will come home every so often. Students listen and
follow along with the nook on tape, then work with a parent or other adult
to answer the reading comprehension questions. (Adults MAY do the
writing!!!)

Third Grade: Students should be reading at least THREE books a
month, (often these are chapter books so they may take longer on each
one)and recording their information in their Reading Response Journal
(located in their reading folders)...three completed entries earns a prize,
more than three earns a BONUS!
