SCIENCE ENRICHMENT
7th Grade

•Create a poster of all of the body’s organ systems.  Draw, label and define 
what each body system does.  
•Write a 3 paragraph scary story.  Instead of using ‘arm bone’ or ‘leg bone’ 
use the correct scientific words for our bones.  Must use at least 10 
scientific name for the bones.  
•Create a poster of the skeletal system.  Label the bones of the body.  (The 
ones we studied…not all 206)
•Create a crossword puzzle using the vocabulary words from Chapter 7 – 
Section 3/  Must use all 5.
•Research the benefits/dangers of tanning in a tanning bed.  Debate whether 
people should be allowed to tan, or not be allowed to tan in a tanning bed.  
Make sure you have research to back up your debate.  Must be at least 3 
paragraphs.  (site your sources)
•Choose a section from Chapter 7.  Write a lesson plan for a lesson to teach 
to a 7th grade class.  Include TOC, Bellringer, activity, notes, and 
homework.  

SCIENCE ENRICHMENT
8th Grade

•Research the different types of minerals used for jewelry.  Write a summary 
about the types, cuts, and costs of minerals worn as jewelry.  At least 3 
paragraphs.  
•Prepare mineral identification cards for some common minerals.  List the 
words color, streak, cleavage, luster, hardness, fracture, and density on 
each card.  For each card, fill in the properties of common minerals.  Write 
the name of the mineral on the back of the card.  Write at least 7 cards.  
•Interview a jeweler.  Ask him/her 8 questions about their job as a 
jeweler.  Include questions about how minerals are shaped/mounted for 
jewelry.  Type/Write the interview.
•Create a bubble map of mineral mining.  Use at least 10 bubbles in your 
bubble map.
•Create a poster of the rock cycle.  Include the three types of rocks, how 
they move from rock to rock and label all parts.  Must be colored and 
labeled.  
•Write a skit/cartoon portraying the rock cycle.  Roles can include the 
minerals that make up rock and the forces that affect them.  To represent 
the forces-heat, pressure, erosion, and weathering-create special 
names/outfits for them.
•Create a 10 question test over Chapter 7 or Chapter 8.  Include at least 10 
questions.  Provide an answer key.


7th or 8th Grade Science Enrichment
Observe a common household object (vacuum cleaner, dictionary, alarm clock, 
etc…) and write a detailed description of it without naming the object.  You 
will read your description to the class to see if anyone can identify the 
object.  

Design a science experiment to test what stain removing product works best 
to remove a ketchup stain that has set overnight on a t-shirt.  Explain your 
experiment in a scientific method form.  Illustrate your experiment.  

Design a poster that illustrates tools that are used in science 
(thermometer, graduated cylinder, ruler, beaker, etc…).  Illustrate/print a 
photo of at least 10 different tools.  Label each tool and write a summary 
about each tools’ job.

Compare and contrast living organisms from non-living organisms.  Give an 
example of 3 living and 3 non-living and write 3 paragraphs explaining the 
characteristics that identify each thing as either living or non-living.

Read a story/article of your choice.  Find five examples of stimuli and 
responses.  Write an explanation of why it is important to be able to 
respond to all of these stimuli.
