2nd Semester information packet

Dear Choir Parents and Students,

**Please read and initial all items, keep one copy and return the other.

The final weeks of choir are full, and my favorite part of the year. We’re preparing for several big events. 

(Parents, please initial each item)     

______Tuesday, Feb 26th:  Black History Month Celebration 7:00, Sr HS auditorium.

     The CMS choirs will join with the HS choirs and DMS choirs to sing for a special ceremony in the Sr High auditorium. Arrival time is 6:00 for rehearsal, meet in the Sr HS choir-room. Formal attire.

______March 10-11 UIL concert and sight-reading contests. Location-Frisco, Liberty High School, at 3801 Mcdermott Rd, Plano, TX 75025, US.. Wear formal attire and Bring lunch, or money for lunch.

Scheduled departures from CMS:

7th grade, 3/10 Monday @ 7:00am,

8th grade Varsity 3/11Tuesday Departure: 11:00.

________(parent initial) Spring Concert, Tues., April 22nd at 7:00

The spring concert is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd at 7:00, in the CMS cafeteria.  The choirs will perform all UIL selections, portions or “clips” of their solo and ensemble selections for the audience if they wish, and are prepared.  Formal attire.

_______(parent initial)  April 26  Solo & Ensemble Festival or Assignment

I have helped the students choose a musical solo-selection, and they will work on the piece at home and at specific times during class. The piece must be memorized. Students may choose to enter the Sat. April 26th festival (must provide own transportation) held at Cross-Timbers MS in Grapevine, (entry fee $10, due before leaving for Spring Break) or simply perform their solo for me as a grade.

Mrs Shore will be available to accompany students at the festival at no cost from 10:45-1:30 only.  However, I would like to encourage each student to consider hiring an accompanist.  I will help find a qualified accompanist for a cost is $30 for two in-school rehearsals and the festival, or you may find your own.

           ___YES,______________(student) is entering the festival April 26th festival and I am including the  $10 entry fee.

___ NO, __________(student) would prefer to   sing for Mrs Shore for a grade  

___ Yes, I would like for you to find an accompanist for Solo & Ensemble festival and I am including the $30 fee.

________(parent initial) Hurricane Harbor Choral Contest, and Water Park visit.

There are 2 events involved in this contest:

1.Choral performance contest May 9 Friday, 7:45 and 8:15 pm at Birdville Performing Arts Complex in Richland Hills.

2. Water-Park Visit Sat. May 10. Depart CMS by bus at 9:30am, evening return TBA. The Water-park is open only to the participants of the HH choral/band contest for this event!  We will leave CMS in the morning, and return in the evening. Exact times will be posted on the web-site as soon as I know them. Students’ entry fees are covered.  I will need one other chaperone, as well, and we may want to arrange for someone to arrive early and reserve tables at the park for us to “hang out” during the day. Conservative swim attire.

  Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella 

All choir-students will have lots of stage-time during Cinderella, even if they are not lead roles. All rehearsals are imperative. Lead roles must arrange in advance to be at both dress rehearsals to perform in the musical.

Dress rehearsal after school: Friday May 16^th(lead roles), Tuesday May 20^th (all students)
