 FYI
Academic Standards are in place for the Music education of all age-groups.
Below, you will find the Texas and National standards for middle school
choral studies. The standards are age appropriate and potent, yet broad
enough to affect many levels of performance abilities. When achieved, the
standards will provide a solid foundation for students' lifetime enjoyment
and involvement of music.

Importantly, because choral music is derived from world literature of both
text and music, choral music becomes an experience related to other areas-
such as social studies, history, and literature. As an advanced performance
study, choir includes excellent individual and group vocal studies, and
experience in world reknown solo and choral literature appropriate for this
age group. Of course, let's not forget my favorite part of choir--working
together as a group, and singing with friends.

I hope this sheds some light on the advances in music education around the
country, and goals for CMS. Thanks for your support! Mrs Shore
