What are some of the activities PTA sponsors?

guest speakers and field trips
2. Raised thousands of dollars from Fall/Spring Fundraisers

classroom supplies
4. Awarded two SPHS seniors who attended DFT $250 scholarships
5. Fall Carnival, Field Day, Staff Appreciation Luncheons, Yearbook, 5th Grade
Graduation, DFT Trading Post, Red Ribbon Week, Reflections, Watch Dogs, and
so much more!!
Who do I contact if I have questions about membership?
Contact our membership chair Jen Hollingshead at 388-0503 or
jen.hollingshead@yahoo.com
What does my membership pay for?
The fee is a flat rate of $7 per membership. These are yearly dues. Paying for a
membership gives a $3 monetary contribution to the local PTA, and the more
memberships we have, the more votes our region gets at the State/National
level. The other $4 goes to PTA and Texas PTA.
Do I have to attend all meetings if I join?
You are welcome at all PTA meetings and events, but it is not mandatory. Even
if you can't attend any, you can still join to give your contribution and be
kept up to date on PTA events and needs.
Is PTA membership open only to parents of children in school?
Anyone can join the PTA- parents, grandparents, concerned community members,
teachers, and students in the 9th grade or above. Joining PTA is a great way
for SPHS students to volunteer and get hours towards the Tigers In Service
program.
Do I need to be a member of PTA to volunteer for school activities?
No you do not need to be a member to be involved, parents are always welcome
and your support is needed. But our ultimate goal is to be united as one body,
supporting our students through PTA and with the beneficial Watch Dogs program.
How do I access Texas PTA member discounts from the website?
Texas PTA member discount information has been collected and posted in the
member-only section of the Texas PTA website. You'll need the username and
password from the back of your PTA Membership Card or Texas PTA Member
Benefits Card to access it.
How can I get involved after I become a member?
Answer the periodic email blitz calls for help, pass on what you know to your
neighbors who are not in PTA, be a Watch Dog, or email us to let us know what
you want to do. Our teachers always need a helping hand as well.
Do I have to volunteer only at school?
No. We are happy to have you help from your home or office. Phone calls,
preparing items for certain events, and sending items to school with your child
when needed are all valuable ways to help.
