About The Teacher

Mr. Peters, a local troublemaker, has been a classroom teacher for 
over 30 years. He has held several real jobs, however. Other careers 
include janitor in a potato chip factory, assistant manager of a 
Piggly Wiggly store, apprentice electrician, and an engineer in the East 
Texas oilfields.

This great, sincere, but modest person has many talents and fascinating 
accomplishments to his credit (you can't make this stuff up; it's all true)
  including:

-performed onstage with the New York Metropolitan Opera in the 1960's

-drove an 18 wheeler through the streets of Paris, Moscow, Athens, and     
all over Asia

-wore an "Afro" in the 1970's

-spent time in many Texas prisons

-awarded honorary life membership to the Texas PTA

-entered and ran in the 2002 Washington DC Marathon

-roomed with the president of the NAACP
