Photo 1 Text Heading Photo 1 Text Learning the proper technique for operating a fire extinguisher may save lives someday. - Unhook the hose (if there is one) - Break the beaded seal (it's easy) - Hold the extinguisher by the handle. - Hold the hose firmly at the nozzle. - Aim at the base of the fire. - Squeeze the lever. - Move the hose in a side to side motion (not up and down). - Use it all. - Run like H---! Photo 3 Text Heading Photo 3 Text The fire bucket, or bote de fuego, represents the fire. Students were expected to aim at the base of the fire to put it out. It was tempting to spray the flames, but we learned that the action takes place at the base of the fire. Fuel, heat, and oxygen combine there to start the blaze. The purpose of the extinguisher is to remove oxygen, one of the main ingredients, and stop the burning.	Photo 3 File Name
