December 1-5
Mid-term is December 5.
We will read and study Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Students will be tested on vocabulary and story content on Friday,
December 5.
Don't forget to read a book for your next book project due on January
12 and worth 100 points (the same as one test). Reading contest
entries (an optional assignment)are due on January 12 also. Write
the names of books and numbers of pages in the books you have read
since October 27. Have a parent sign your entry.
Ideas for book projects include but are not limited to: redesign the
cover, tell about the author's life, research something mentioned in
the book and tell the class about it, act out a scene with a friend
who has read the same book, re-write the ending, draw a map of the
setting of your book, write a script for a scene from your book and
have class members read it aloud, bring an object from the book and
explain how it relates to the plot, draw or paint a scene from the
book, make a mosaic of the book, write a poem about the book and read
it to the class, make a wanted poster of a character from the book,
make a pop-up book based on your novel, read a paragraph to the class
and explain how it represents the author's style, compose a song
about your book, make a book mark advertising your book, make a time-
line of events in your book. See me if you have another creative idea
for a project. You need to include the name of the book, its author
and your name on your project.
