EAGLE Notebooks 07-08

Here's our 2nd grade EAGLE Notebooks from 2006-2007!

This year we are using something new to keep us ultra-organized...

E.A.G.L.E. Notebooks!
(Everything A Great Learner (needs) Everyday)

Second Graders are responsible for bringing their E.A.G.L.E. Notebooks home every day and returning them each morning. We take very good care of our notebooks since we will be using them all year!

Let's take a peek inside...

The first thing you'll notice is the Bird's Nest. It's a place to keep "golden eggs" like money and notes from home. This zippered pouch helps keep these items safe on travels to school.

Next is our Class Handbook. It gives details about our class. It's also a handy resource to have available if any questions arise! We keep a copy of the Monthly Lunch Calendar and our Class Phone Tree right after the handbook.

The next section is to keep our homework organized! It contains reminders about Nightly Reading (and how IMPORTANT it is!!), our Nightly Reading Log, Comprehension Question Cards, and Book Pocket.

There are also zippered Hefty bags for our Number Cards (part of Math Investigations) and Spelling Ring. Our spiral Spelling Notebook stays here too until we hand it in each Friday for homework.

Finally, the last section is for home-school communication! Our Agenda Books are perfect for daily correspondence with our class families. We write our parents a note each afternoon to tell one thing we learned or did during our school day. Sometimes we write a reminder note. Then we indicate our behavior by drawing a smiley face (or a straight or frowny face). There is no need for Mrs. Stamp or class parents to search for paper to write a note to each other, it can simply be jotted down in the agenda!

Our school also uses Purple Folders for daily papers and notices. This is located in the back of our EAGLE Notebook. One pocket is to keep at home and the other is for items to return to school. This is also a great place to keep our homework packet during the week.

Note for Teachers: Are you interested in using EAGLE Notebooks in your class? Start by doing a Google search for MOOSE Binders or MOOSE Notebooks... you'll find TONS of ideas to get you started (there are also BEE Binders, BEAR Books, etc). Also check out Mrs. Smith's list of acronyms for your school mascot! Feel free to email me if you have any questions!
