Welcome

Welcome to the Lakeview Hope Academy family. Lakeview is a very special place where we all learn and grow together. We wholeheartedly believe and support the philosophy that all students are capable of success. No Exceptions! It is a school where everyone believes learning is a lifelong process.
We currently have two leopard mascots on display in our Office. Our adult size female mascot leopard's name is Bonita (which means beautiful in Spanish). Our kid size male mascot leopard's name is Leo. We are in the process of adopting a third leopard mascot to add to our "pride."
The students of Lakeview Hope Academy are continually being challenged to reach their goals. Principal Auton maintains an "Open Door Policy" and is always open to parents/guardians, students and community members coming in to engage in conversations. You are encouraged to call, email write or come in and discuss any concerns, educational ideas or celebrations.

Message from the Principal

Principal Photo
Thanks to your encouragement and support of your child(ren) we have had a very successful first semester for School Year 2012-13. Highlights of our success include the following: Two major Student Council approved fundraisers thanks to the leadership of Co-Advisors, Ms. Kellie Dysart and Mrs. Jeannette Normandin. We also had 55 (father-like figures) attend our first annual Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Kick-Off Night with pizza and drinks for everyone who attended. The Watch D.O.G.S. have been sporting their special t-shirts and volunteering in the school for a day at a time. We had a memorable Veterans' Day Assembly led by Mr. David Westberg with a local Color Guard from McCord Field. Our teachers and para-educators continue to focus on math, reading, science and writing.
Our Annual Culture Fair will be in June. We will have free snacks representative of an international cuisine. We expect to highlight some cultural performances. We will have booths representing cultures on the different continents. Please contact Mrs. Heather Butchart,Kindergarten Teacher to let her know you are interested in helping to make this year's culture fair special.
Best Regards,
Michael Auton, Principal
Mr. Michael H. Auton

Student Guidelines for Success

Student Guidelines for Success

Due to the age and social/emotional development of students in grades K-5, behavioral intervention and discipline warrant a high degree of professional judgment and situational understanding. Every incident is approached on a case-by-case basis and in accordance with the school’s behavioral program and district policy.

Regardless of grade level, all students in the Clover Park School District are expected to:

Conform to a reasonable, developmentally appropriate standard of socially acceptable behavior
Respect the rights, person and property of others
Preserve the degree of order necessary for a positive learning environment
Submit to the authority of staff and respond accordingly
Avoid interfering with a staff member’s work performance or otherwise creating an
intimidating, hostile or offensive environment.

Professional judgment and consequences to address behavioral issues should be:

Consistent from day to day and student to student
Balanced against the severity of the misconduct
Appropriate to the student’s nature and prior behavior
Fair to the student, parent and others
Effective

In addition to school-level behavioral intervention, some behaviors constitute sufficient cause for corrective action such as suspension, emergency expulsion, long-term suspension or expulsion.

A “Suspension” is the exclusion from school for a specific period of time, after which the student has a right to return. The suspension may be imposed for 1 to 10 days.

An “Emergency Expulsion” is the exclusion from school pending reinstatement by the principal or until a fair hearing is held and a final determination reached.

A “Long Term Suspension or Expulsion” is the exclusion from school for more than 10 days and involves a hearing if so requested.

Every elementary school implements a school-wide system of expectations for behavior. The purpose of these systems is to establish a safe and productive learning environment for all students and staff. Parents are valuable partners in reinforcing behavioral expectations at school.
