 Welcome

Welcome to Park Lodge Elementary! Our school believes that we are here to help each student to earn a living, be a good citizen, and pursue life-long learning. We expect high academic achievement from all students and believes that it is society's duty to provide them with the opportunity to learn.

Message from the Principal

Dear Park Lodge Families,

It is refreshing to come to work in the morning sunlight. While there is still crispness in the air, you can see the season changing. Trees are blooming, bulbs are sprouting, and children are ready for spring. As I am sure in your home, like mine, we are ready for the kids to be outside playing, not cooped up indoors. And we are most definitely done with the rain.

Spring also brings a “crunch time” to prepare students for the rest of the school year, prepare for next year’s grade level, and finalize readiness for the state assessment, the Measurements of Student Progress (MSP). Teachers are working very diligently with students to ensure they are able to explain their thinking and be prepared show how smart they are.

The MSP covers the state standards. Students in grades 3rd-5th will be testing in Math and Reading with short answer responses, explaining their thinking using words, numbers, or pictures, answering multiple choice questions, and solving problems. Students in 4th grade will also complete two Writing assessments, a narrative and an expository, while 5th grade will be assessed in Science.

What can families do to help students be successful?
-Make sure students get a good night’s sleep.
-Help students get to school on time (7:30 for breakfast).
-Encourage them to do their best (All we can ask of them.).
-Remind them to take their time, check their work, and write neatly.
-Tell students to, "Use the MSP as a way to "show off" how smart you are."

All my best,

Eric Richards

Try the Y!!!
For youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Drop Off and Pick Up of Students

Please do not drop your child off before 7:30 in the morning. There is not consistent supervision and we will need to call families to ensure safety at all times. At 7:30, students may be dropped off and go to the gym for free breakfast.

When picking up students at the end of the day, Lakewood Police Dept. is enforcing traffic safety laws and no permitting cars to wait on 100th St. to get into the pick up area. Alfaretta St. is a much quieter option for picking up your children at the end of the day, or even on Lexington Ave. across the field. Please consider using either option as an alternative. Cars lining up prior to 2:15 for pickup will be asked to move for emergency vehicle access.
