 Welcome

Welcome to our school! Our school follows the Paideia model. This model is designed to prepare each student to earn a living, be a good citizen, and pursue life-long learning. Paideia expects high academic achievement from all students and believes that it is society's duty to provide them with the opportunity to learn.

Message from the Principal

Dear Park Lodge Families,

As we move into Semester Break, this is a good time to reflect on your student’s achievements through the first half the year. How are they progressing on their goals for the year? What kind of adjustments to the goals do we need to make to ensure success in the 2nd half of the school year? What successes need to be celebrated? You should be proud of their effort.

In May 2008, the City of Lakewood applied for a $321,000 Safe Routes to Schools grant to support pedestrian and bicycle safety projects within Lakewood. At the request of the city, the school district provided input and helped identify an improvement to increase the number of children walking and biking to school safely at Park Lodge Elementary. The Park Lodge project received a priority rating of 19 out of 112 projects. Initially, projects 1 thru 12 received award grant funding for the 2009-11 biennium funding cycle. However, in November 2009, additional funding through the grant was made available and the Park Lodge project was awarded. The City has the lead in planning and construction of the sidewalks around Park Lodge and the district will continue to work with them to ensure that students’ safety needs are being met. The construction is scheduled to occur during the summer months.

Jump Rope for Heart
http://www.americanheart.org/Jump
Park Lodge is participating in Jump Rope for Heart again this year. The program will run from Feb. 1st - 18th. Classes will be learning fun jump roping moves in PE and promoting the program with technology in the library. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association. Last year the school raised $1,000. This year, we’re setting a goal of $2,000. Please consider donating to this worthy cause. Information packets went home the last week of January. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Stevenson or Mrs. Campbell. Thank you!

Drop Off and Pick Up of Students

Please do not drop your child off before 7:30 in the morning. There is not consistent supervision and we will need to call families to ensure safety at all times. At 7:30, students may be dropped off and go to the gym for free breakfast. They do not need to come to the office area. We have opened the car drop off in the front of the school in the morning. This is easing congestion and hopefully eliminating u-turns.

Change of Phone or Address

Please call 253.583.5350 to update your phone number or addresses if they have changed recently. This is critical information for us in case of emergency or in case of child sickness.
